Job Summary: A Debt Collector is responsible for contacting individuals or businesses with overdue bills to recover outstanding payments. The role requires persistence, strong communication skills, and a good understanding of financial regulations.

• Key Responsibilities:Contact customers via phone, email, or mail to collect outstanding debts.
• Negotiate payment plans and settlements within company guidelines.
• Maintain detailed records of collection activity and customer interactions.
• Follow up on payment commitments and ensure timely follow-through.
• Locate and track debtors using databases, skip tracing tools, and other resources.
• Adhere to all debt collection laws and company policies (e.g. FDCPA or local equivalents).
• Escalate unresponsive or high-risk accounts to legal or senior management when necessary.
• Required Skills & Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent (some employers prefer a college degree).
• Experience in customer service or collections is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
• Basic computer skills (CRM systems, Excel, email).
• Knowledge of debt collection laws and ethics.
• Working Conditions:Typically office-based or call center environment.
• May involve high call volumes and stressful conversations.
• Full-time or part-time hours; some evening/weekend shifts may be required.
