Job Description
Job Summary:
The Material Management Officer is responsible for overseeing the efficient handling, tracking, and movement of materials within the organization. This role involves maintaining accurate in-out records, planning procurement activities, and generating timely reports to support operational and strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Material Management:
Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock.
Monitor storage conditions and ensure proper handling of materials.
Coordinate with warehouse staff for receiving, storage, and issuing of materials.
Conduct regular stock counts and reconciliations.
2. In-Out Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of materials received and dispatched.
Ensure all transactions are documented with proper supporting paperwork (GRNs, delivery notes, etc.).
Use inventory management systems (manual or digital) to log stock movements.
3. Procurement Planning:
Forecast material requirements based on project schedules and production plans.
Collaborate with the procurement team to raise purchase requests/orders.
Monitor lead times and supplier performance to ensure timely delivery.
Assist in evaluating suppliers and sourcing alternatives as needed.
4. Reporting:
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly stock and consumption reports.
Highlight variances, slow-moving items, or critical stock levels.
Provide data and insights to support budgeting, audits, and compliance checks.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
2+ years of experience in material management or inventory control.
Proficiency in MS Excel and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of procurement processes and vendor management.
Familiarity with ISO or other quality management systems.
Experience in manufacturing, construction, or project-based industries.
