Job Description
Key Responsibilities:Pre-Operative Duties: Prepare OT and surgical instruments specific to neurosurgical procedures (e.g. craniotomies, spinal surgeries). Ensure proper sterilization and availability of neurosurgery-specific tools and implants. Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent as per protocol. Assist in patient positioning (prone, lateral, etc.) ensuring neurological safety. Intra-Operative Duties: Assist surgeons as scrub or circulating nurse during neurosurgical operations. Maintain strict aseptic techniques throughout the procedure. Monitor and manage OT equipment like microscopes, neuronavigation systems, and C-arm. Maintain accurate documentation of sponge/instrument counts and intraoperative events. Post-Operative Duties: Transfer patient safely to recovery/PACU with detailed handover. Assist in cleaning and preparing the OT for the next surgery. Monitor and document patient vitals and surgical outcomes as required. Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of neuroanatomy and neurosurgical procedures. Skilled in handling OT equipment (drills, microscopes, cautery machines, etc.). Excellent teamwork, communication, and crisis-handling skills. Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols. Ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
