Job Description
The QC Inspector will be responsible for conducting in-line inspection of automotive components during the manufacturing process. The role ensures that components meet the required quality standards as per control plans, drawings, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-process inspection and line patrol checks at various stages of manufacturing.
- Verify parts against engineering drawings, specifications, and control plans.
- Check dimensions, visual appearance, and functional aspects of components using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Record inspection results and maintain inspection documentation as per IATF 16949 standards.
- Identify non-conformities and report deviations immediately to the concerned supervisor.
- Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with 5S, Kaizen, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) on the shop floor.
- Communicate effectively with production, quality, and engineering teams regarding inspection status and issues.
- Support internal and external audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering / Automobile / Production or related field.
- 1 to 4 years of hands-on experience in in-line inspection in an automotive component manufacturing setup.
- Familiar with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation.
- Proficient in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauges, etc.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and quality standards.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Attention to detail, proactive, and a strong team player.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in forging, machining, plastic, or sheet metal components.
- Exposure to PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA (is a plus, not mandatory).
- Knowledge of MS Excel / basic computer usage.
