Senior Perl Software Developer Legacy Systems | Linux | PHP | Postgres Location: On-site, Global Technical Hub HSR Layout, Bangalore Team: DevOps Experience Required: 15+ years Start Date: Immediate / ASAP We are looking for a highly experienced Perl Software Developer to join our DevOps team as a senior member at our global technical hub in HSR Layout, Bangalore. Youll play a key role in maintaining, modernising, and stabilising a legacy system that supports operations across multiple UK-based call centres and a central data centre. Our infrastructure is fully Linux-based, with production applications written primarily in Perl and PHP, and we are expanding our stack to include Ruby and Python. We are also in the middle of a significant database migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL 16. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of legacy Perl code across critical business systems Debug and resolve complex issues, such as missing modules, failing cron jobs, and dependency conflicts Maintain and enhance custom scripts with little or no documentation Troubleshoot and modernise hard-coded SQL logic to ensure compatibility with PostgreSQL 16 Work closely with infrastructure, operations, and application teams in a fast-moving DevOps environment Guide junior team members and contribute to long-term technical decisions What Were Looking For Minimum 15 years of hands-on experience with Perl in production environments Strong understanding of Linux environments and system-level scripting Practical experience with PHP, and willingness to work with or learn Python Deep understanding of cron jobs, scheduling, and background process management Proven track record of working on PostgreSQL migrations, particularly addressing: Outdated Perl DB drivers Legacy SQL logic that breaks under PostgreSQL 16 Behavioural mismatches between various Postgres databases Excellent debugging and diagnostic skills Ability to work independently on undocumented systems,
