Job Description
Key Responsibilities: Mine Design & Planning: Develop, review, and implement mine plans, including both short-term and long-term plans. Ensure that all mining operations are aligned with the best practices for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Operations Supervision: Supervise mining operations to ensure safe and efficient extraction of minerals. Ensure adherence to production targets, operational budgets, and schedules. Safety & Compliance: Monitor mining operations to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Lead efforts to reduce accidents and injuries and ensure proper safety procedures are followed at all times. Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to the mining team, ensuring efficient use of equipment and methods. Address any technical challenges or issues that arise during operations. Resource Evaluation & Reporting: Conduct resource estimation, reserve evaluation, and ensure proper reporting as per industry standards. Assist in analyzing and evaluating the mining reserves and potential for future extraction. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the geologists, engineers, and other technical teams to optimize mining operations and improve efficiency. Cost Control: Monitor and control operational costs to ensure profitability. Propose measures to minimize costs while ensuring productivity. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's or Masters degree in Mining Engineering or a related field. Certification: First-Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (required by local mining laws/regulations). Skills & Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of mining methods and techniques. Strong understanding of mine design and resource estimation. Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, AutoCAD). Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills. Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in mining. Additional Requirements: Ability to work in challenging and remote environments. Willingness to relocate or work in various mining regions, if required. Preferred: Previous experience with underground and/or surface mining operations. Knowledge of geological mapping and mine surveying.
