Job Description

The job responsibilities include designing and developing microfluidic systems, optimizing fabrication processes for microfluidic devices, collaborating with external fabrication facilities, evaluating materials for fabrication, conducting research on new materials and surface treatments, performing characterization and testing of devices, validating device performance, troubleshooting and optimizing designs, and documenting design iterations, fabrication processes, and testing results in detailed reports. The qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is preferred but not required. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in microfluidic device design and fabrication. Requirements for the position include a background in fabrication techniques such as lithography, micro-milling, or similar, experience with materials like PDMS, glass, and thermoplastics, proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools for fluid dynamics, familiarity with microscopy and analytical instruments for device characterization, excellent communication skills, knowledge of biocompatibility and regulatory requirements for microfluidic devices in medical and pharmaceutical applications, and experience with rapid prototyping and iterative design processes.
