Job Description
Job Title: Medical Records Staff Company Name: Galaxy Hospital Job Summary: The Medical Records Staff is responsible for organizing, managing, and maintaining patient health records in accordance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of medical records while supporting healthcare providers in accessing critical patient information efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Collect, organize, and file patient medical records, both electronically and physically. Ensure timely and accurate data entry of patient demographics, treatments, and diagnoses into Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and institutional privacy policies. Retrieve records for physicians and other healthcare providers upon request. Process requests for medical information from patients, insurance companies, and legal representatives. Monitor and audit records for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization. Assist with record retention, archiving, and destruction per established guidelines. Coordinate with clinical staff to resolve discrepancies in documentation. Support billing and coding staff with access to required documentation. Participate in audits, quality improvement, and accreditation preparation as needed. Qualifications: Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in Health Information Technology is a plus) 1-2 years of experience in a medical records or health information management setting preferred Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) is an advantage Skills: Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Working Conditions: Office or medical facility environment May require prolonged periods of sitting and computer use Occasional lifting of record boxes (up to 25 lbs) Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Benefits: Flexible schedule Health insurance Paid sick time Paid time off Work Location: In person,
