Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain event-driven solutions using Confluent Kafka across core banking, CRM, fraud systems, etc.
• Build Kafka Producers & Consumers optimized for high-throughput, low-latency transaction processing.
• Create reusable streaming components using Kafka Streams and ksqlDB for real-time use cases like fraud detection and customer notifications.
• Enforce best practices in schema evolution and compatibility via Confluent Schema Registry.
• Collaborate with Data Governance, Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Analytics teams to maintain enterprise standards.
• Develop integrations with external systems via REST APIs, SOAP services, and databases.
• Provide support on integration roadmaps, impact assessments, and architectural decisions.
• Partner with business units (Retail, Risk, Compliance, etc.) to gather and translate requirements into scalable Kafka solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong Java programming skills (Kafka Connect is Java-based).
• Experience with Kafka Connect APIs: Developing custom Source/Sink connectors.
• Proficiency in handling Schemas (Schema Builder, Struct) and schema evolution strategies.
• Expertise in error handling, retries, and building resilient connectors.
• Strong understanding of Kafka internals: topics, partitions, offset management.
• Ability to work with connector logs and debug behavior efficiently.
• Solid experience working with SQL and relational data systems.
