Job Description

We are building a sustainable, high-margin urban farm in Chennai focusing on hydroponics, microgreens, lettuce, herbs, and strawberries, targeted at weekly sales to urban customers and restaurants.

We are looking for a passionate agri graduate to set up, run, and grow this farm into a model for efficient urban agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in setup, installation, and layout of hydroponic systems and shade net structures
• Manage daily operations: planting, nutrient preparation, irrigation, pest control
• Maintain production cycles for weekly harvest of microgreens, salad greens, and herbs
• Monitor and record pH, EC, temperature, humidity, and plant growth parameters
• Coordinate with vendors for seeds, nutrients, and equipment
• Pack and manage weekly delivery orders to homes and restaurants
• Maintain hygiene, compliance, and traceability for urban customers
• Innovate and experiment with new crop trials (e.g., strawberries, basil, exotic lettuce)
• Report progress to the farm owner weekly

Required Skills & Qualifications

• B.Sc. Agriculture / Horticulture / Agri-Tech / Plant Science
• Basic understanding of hydroponics, protected cultivation, or soil-less systems
• Familiarity with crop cycles, nutrient management, and disease control
• Hands-on attitude with problem-solving mindset
• Comfortable with basic tools, digital logs, and mobile apps
• Willingness to work in outdoor and indoor growing environments

Preferred (Bonus) Skills

• Previous internship or experience in hydroponics or urban farming
• Knowledge of vertical farming / DWC / NFT / Dutch buckets
• Fluency in Tamil and English
• Interest in sustainability, entrepreneurship, or farm-to-table models
