Key Responsibilities:
1. Machine Setup & Operation:
Setup and adjust the flexo press for each job, including mounting the plates, setting the anilox rolls, adjusting ink viscosity, and calibrating tension controls.
Operate the press to print on various substrates (paper, plastic, etc.) with proper color registration and alignment.
Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure optimum performance throughout the print run.
Perform routine adjustments to speed, pressure, and tension as necessary to ensure consistent print quality.
2. Quality Control:
Monitor print quality for consistency and accuracy, including checking for proper color registration, ink density, and sharpness of printed images.
Inspect printed materials to ensure they meet customer specifications and industry standards.
Use micrometers, colorimeters, or other measuring tools to check registration and color.
Troubleshoot any defects, such as ink smudging, misalignment, or substrate wrinkling, and adjust the machine accordingly.
3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance on the flexo press, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts (e.g., rollers, plates, and anilox rolls).
Diagnose and resolve mechanical or technical issues related to the press, such as ink problems, registration shifts, or press breakdowns.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and repairs when necessary.
4. Safety and Cleanliness:
Adhere to all safety standards and guidelines while operating the press and handling materials, including wearing protective gear and following lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Maintain a clean work environment by cleaning the press, tools, and work areas regularly to avoid accidents and maintain a safe, organized workspace.
Ensure that waste ink, materials, and solvents are disposed of according to environmental and company guidelines.
5. Record-Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain detailed production records, including job setup, ink usage, machine settings, and any issues encountered during the job.
Report any production or quality issues to the shift supervisor and suggest improvements or corrective actions.
6. Communication and Collaboration:
Work closely with the production supervisor, other machine operators, and quality control teams to ensure production goals are met.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless handoff between shifts and timely completion of jobs.
