Job Role Summary:

The Installation Technician is responsible for carrying out field installation of onboard equipment in locomotives. This includes mounting devices, cable routing, wiring connections, basic fitment works, Pneumatic pipe line works and support in equipment testing under the guidance of engineers or team leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in mounting of Kavach components like:

·         Main Control Unit

·        RFID Reader

·        DMI (Driver Machine Interface Unit)

·        RF Antennas

·        GPS/GSM Antennas

·        I/O Unit (Input and Output Unit)

·        PDU (Power Distribution Unit)

·        Pulse Generator

·        Isolation Unit

·        Radio Modem Unit

·        Perform Cable Preparatory work, cable laying and connection as per drawings

·        Install brackets, clamps, and support structures inside the cab, roof, and underframe

·        Carry out drilling, tapping, and basic mechanical work

·        Support in pneumatic hose connection for Brake Interface

·        Maintain insulation, tagging, and proper terminations as per safety norms

·        Conduct continuity checks and basic electrical testing

·        Follow instructions from Engineers or Team Leaders on daily tasks

·        Ensure worksite safety, tool usage, and material handling discipline

·        Complete daily work logs and material usage reports

Required Skills:

Basic knowledge of electrical wiring / mechanical assembly Fitment.

Ability to use tools like drilling machines, spanners, multimeter, crimping tools, etc.

Understanding of cable cutting, Laying, ferruling, and panel wiring

Familiar with loco working conditions and safety measures

Willing to travel and work in various sheds/Shops of onboard locomotives

Qualification:

ITI (Electrical / Electronics / Fitter / Wireman)
