Job Description
As a Museum Curator / Custodian Manager at The House of MG in Ahmedabad, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing a diverse collection of heirloom textiles, brassware, woodwork, books, and heritage artifacts. With at least 5 years of experience in a museum, gallery, or heritage retail environment, you will play a crucial role in the custodianship, documentation, preservation, presentation, and promotion of the collections across various areas within the hotel. Your key responsibilities will include acquiring, authenticating, and documenting artifacts, curating exhibitions, maintaining digital and physical records, coordinating restoration projects, and ensuring proper display and pricing of all items. Additionally, you will oversee daily operations of retail spaces, manage inventory, coordinate sales, and maintain high-quality visual merchandising. Your role will also involve supervising support staff, liaising with vendors, and enforcing cleanliness and SOP adherence in display and storage areas. To excel in this role, you must have a deep understanding of Indian heritage textiles, crafts, and antiquities, strong research and documentation skills, and experience in visual merchandising. Strong organizational, multitasking, and team management skills are essential, along with proficiency in retail inventory software. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are key, as well as a commitment to upholding the brand legacy and preservation ethics.
