Job Description

The Commis I & II Continental / Indian Cuisine positions are available at an iconic 4-star hotel located in South Mumbai. As a part of the Food Production department, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes within your assigned section, whether it be Continental or Indian cuisine. It is essential to maintain high standards of quality, hygiene, and portion control while working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Your role will involve collaborating with senior chefs, following standardized recipes, ensuring cleanliness and order in your work area, and adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Additionally, you will assist in receiving and storing kitchen supplies, mentoring junior staff, minimizing wastage, and monitoring inventory levels within your section. To excel in this role, you should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Commis I and 1-2 years as a Commis II in a reputed hotel or restaurant. A diploma or certification in Culinary Arts is preferred. For Continental cuisine, you should be familiar with pasta, sauces, grilled meats, salads, and European plating styles. In contrast, for Indian cuisine, proficiency in Indian gravies, tandoor operations, curries, and regional Indian dishes is necessary. Strong teamwork, time management, and multitasking skills are essential, along with a basic understanding of kitchen equipment. The work environment involves a 6-day work week with rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays. Staff meals and uniforms will be provided, and there are growth opportunities available for high performers within the group.
